Why are so many sports facilities replacing their natural grass fields with artificial grass installations? There are many reasons, including the relatively low artificial grass cost of maintenance versus regular grass surfaces. But artificial grass playing fields are also extremely safe, as a recent report from Texas highlighted.
A report was recently commissioned which looked at recent field grass installations on football fields throughout Texas, along with reviewing the wear and tear on older installations of the new types of synthetic grass. The results were evident: artificial grass surfaces that were almost 10 years old still passed the Gmax safety threshold set up by the industry.
Artificial turf fields can last for decades and offer a consistent playing surface. Players don’t have to worry about injuring a knee or ankle if a divot comes out of the turf when making a hard cut with synthetic fields. In addition, they can be used in any weather conditions without causing permanent damage to the surface or requiring reseeding.
