Synthetic grass is becoming a popular choice for cities and countries looking for an attractive, affordable and environmentally-safe option for a variety of needs. From adding a great-looking lawn to public spaces to providing a scenic look to roadside landscaping, synthetic lawns are fast becoming the go-to choice for municipalities in the United States and elsewhere.
One example comes from Australia, where a local government has decided to replace the natural grass medians which made up road dividers on busy city streets with outdoor artificial turf. According to city officials in Ormond, installing fake grass will reduce the maintenance costs along with stopping grass clippings from the grass going into storm water drain. Another benefit is that traffic will no longer need to be diverted in order to allow city workers to mow and maintain the grass on a regular basis.
“Traffic management controls had to be put in place each time the strip was maintained,” said director of community relations Paul Burke. “While these controls protect the safety of the men and women in the work area, they can be a cause of frustration to busy motorists.”
