When thinking about the uses of artificial residential turf, most people instantly think about the benefits of replacing front yards and back yards with resilient and beautiful synthetic lawns. However, some leading interior designers are rethinking how fake grass can be used. A perfect example was at the Dining by Design show in San Francisco, where designers from popular brand Ralph Lauren brought the synthetic lawn concept indoors.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Ralph Lauren’s showcase design at the show involved an equestrian feel, bringing the idea of being in a stable or riding in an open field to the home. This included using artificial grass as a replacement for carpeting along with covering lamps, vases and other items with artificial flowers. Designers said it was a great way to bring an outdoors field to an indoor environment.
While it might be some time before interior design stores are selling artificial grass at wholesale prices to designers, it’s certainly an interesting concept and one that could work for sun rooms, dens and children’s rooms.
