Many people scoff at the notion of installing an artificial grass lawn at their home. After all, they feel as though it isn’t “natural” to have synthetic grass at their home. They think that it will be plastic and not a very inviting surface for their family and friends. Then again, there’s a good chance that they don’t know anyone who has installed artificial grass at their home, so they don’t realize that modern synthetic grass can look just like the real thing and feel practically the same. And they certainly haven’t put any thought into the fact that the best-looking “natural” grass lawns might not be that natural.
After all, most homeowners with a beautiful green lawn put hours of effort and lots of money into making it look the way it does. Lawns aren’t perfectly green and free of weeds on their own. If left to grow “naturally,” almost all lawns would have brown spots, weeds and possibly have bugs or rodents causing damage. To fight this, homeowners spend lots of money on fertilizers, chemicals and other items to give their lawns a perfect, “natural” look.
Of course, this comes at a cost on a variety of levels. The chemicals, fertilizers and other materials used can damage the environment. In addition, every time a lawnmower is fired up or a sprinkler is turned on has an impact on their air quality or water supply. These are issues that homeowners with artificial turf never have to deal with, making it – perhaps – a better choice than natural grass.
