Did you know that artificial grass is being used as a smart solution for athletic fields? The Coshocton City School District does! According to CoshoctonTribune.com, the Stewart Field Community Renovation Project is finally underway, a highly-anticipated makeover that includes a new artificial grass field, a multipurpose field house, and bleacher wraps.
Community members have long seen the need to give the current field a makeover. This is because the Steward Field currently only supports football, while Coshocton soccer teams have to play and practice at the local indoor sports venue, Kids America. However, when installed, the new synthetic lawn turf field will make it possible for the city’s soccer teams to play and practice on Steward Field. The new field will also be available for every football team in the city, including youth and high school players.
Community leader Scott Nelson told the Coshocton Tribune that the project is something that can be positive for “everyone in the community.” He added, “We feel this is Coshocton’s largest classroom where we can promote education through athletics.”
The project will be completed in two phases. The first phase will include the synthetic turf field and wraps for the bleachers, a renovation that is estimated to cost $595,000.
