Why switch to artificial turf for pets
Homeowners & boarding facilities across the nation are switching from traditional lawns to synthetic grass because of the many benefits of turf. Our artificial grass products are made to withstand extra wear and tear that comes with pet play.
With an artificial lawn, you don’t have to worry about muddy paws, dry patchy areas, discoloration or strong odors from pet urine. Plus you save time, water, and money when you invest in artificial grass for dogs.
Benefits of fake grass over real grass
Artificial Turf Supply has a variety of turf products for dogs. The models vary in color and pile height so you can choose which one you like best for your project.
Artificial grass products range from 1” to 1.75” in pile height so you can decide if you want a clean cut, shorter blade or a nice, lush yard for you and your furry friend.
With shorter blade heights it may be easier to pick up after your pet after they used the restroom, but the longer bladed pet turf is easily cleaned as well, and a quick hosing of the area will keep the fake pet grass fresh for the next time.
Our artificial pet grass comes in different shades of beautiful greens, from spring green to an olive tone so you can choose the one that suits you best.
Each pet turf model has tan thatching embedded in the yarn for a nice natural look, just like real grass but it won’t fade or die.
How artificial turf is safe for dogs
At Artificial Turf Supply, our pet turf products are completely dog-safe. We use the highest quality, non-toxic materials that are all certified lead-free to make any area 100% pet-friendly.
Real grass can cause itchy paws due to allergies and bug bites. Because our fake grass blades are made with polyethylene, you won’t have to worry about seasonal allergies or fleas harming your pets.
Astroturf is free of pesticides and fertilizers that are often filled with harsh chemicals that are hazardous to pets. Plus the antimicrobial properties help keep your turf area clean, safe, and odor-free.

Best way to clean and maintain your artificial grass
Artificial grass is simple and easy to keep clean.
- Inspect your yard weekly for dog poop, urine, and other unwanted materials.
- Clean up pet waste and other debris.
- Broom or brush the turf to remove any smaller pieces of dirt or debris.
- With a garden hose, lightly spray down messy areas that have seen pet waste to prevent odor build-up.
For any stubborn areas that won’t get clean with a quick hosing, detergent soap and light scrubbing should take care of the problem. With proper drainage holes installed, Artificial grass is an excellent, easy-to-clean choice for pet areas, especially when potty training your furry friends.
When it doesn’t make sense to switch to artificial turf
Sometimes artificial pet grass is not the best solution for your project. Some of the reasons include:
- You are one that enjoys mowing the lawn and doing yard work.
- When there are other factors that would not allow artificial turf use – such as HOA limitations.
- If there are many or large reflective surfaces, such as windows and vinyl fencing, as heat can reflect and magnify the heat which can cause the fake grass to melt. Note: You can prevent this by tinting the windows or putting shading in the yard.
How turf is drained
Artificial Turf Supply has TURBOFLO technology built into the selected synthetic pet turf models. There are holes on the backing to allow maximum drainage and help prevent odor or bacteria.
Another important component is to ensure you have the base prep done properly to allow complete and proper drainage.
How long artificial turf lasts
Artificial pet grass has a life expectancy of 15-20 years, but it can surpass this time if it is well maintained.
Having a weed barrier and keeping the turf cleaned by picking up debris and pet waste will keep your dog turf fresh each year.
